TI World President Attends Conference
World President, Gerald Mauretti, spoke at a July conference of CEO’s of the Korean Federation of Textile Industries (KOFOTI) on Jeju Island, South Korea. The paper presented was titled “The Outlook for Technical Textiles Worldwide”, a timely subject as the textile industries continues in the rapid change from globalization. KOFOTI (www.kofoti.org) is a corporate member of The Textile Institute and was formed in 1967 to accelerate the modernization of the textile industry and to reinforce the international competitiveness of textile products in order to contribute to the growth of the national economy as well as the long-term development of the Korean textile industry.
Mr Seho Kyong is Chairman of KOFOTI and last year’s recipient of a TI Companion Membership, a TI Council recognition of his efforts to substantially advance the general interests of the textile industry.
World President Mauretti acknowledges his fine reception in Seoul and Jeju both by KOFOTI staff and many TI members in attendance. Having an opportunity to be guided on a tour in Seoul and to join in a traditional Korean dinner at Korean House was most memorable.
