SEMINARS FOR UK SCHOOL TEACHERS IN TEXTILES
16 June or 19 June or 23 June or 26 June 2009
INDUSTRIAL PRACTICE AND NEW TECHNOLOGY IN TEXTILES & FASHION
The Textile Institute recognizes that it is difficult for teachers to keep up to date with the many technological developments currently taking place in the world of fashion and textiles. At the same time, changes in the retail trade and the move of manufacturing to off shore factories make it difficult to understand how the relationship between the retailer and manufacturer now works, how quality is maintained and what job opportunities now exist in the UK. Along with this there are a whole set of new issues concerning ethical and sustainable production methods and practices.
The Textile Institute is offering two seminar programmes in June 2009 to help teachers reach a better understanding of what is happening in the world of fashion business and fashion technology and textiles, which will support their work in the classroom across all levels.
Each seminar programme will be available in either
Manchester: 16 June, or 23 June
London: 19 June. or 26 June
The seminars will be suitable for teachers of GCSE, AS and A Level Textiles Technology and relevant Vocational and Diploma programmes.
