SUMMARY:NISTI- IIT Delhi Joint Conference on “Sustainability in Textiles and Clothing-Emerging trends in  Fibers\, Fabrics\, Processes and Fashion”
DESCRIPTION:Date: Saturday 14 December 2024 \nVenue: LH Complex\, IIT Delhi\, Delhi\, India \nThe Conference primarily aims at raising awareness\, inspire action\, and forge collaborative pathways towards\na more sustainable textile and clothing industry. \nBackground of the conference  \nIndia’s textile sector\, a cornerstone of the economy\, meets significant domestic fabric demands and plays a pivotal role in job creation and export revenue. Amidst its economic contributions\, the sector faces growing environmental concerns\, emphasizing the urgency for sustainable practices. In the face of climate change and resource depletion\, embracing circular economy principles— focusing on resource conservation\, waste reduction\, and exploring end- of-life alternatives—becomes imperative. \nThe Circle Back campaign\, launched by the Ministry of Textiles\, Government of India aims to reshape consumer behavior towards a more circular and responsible textile industry. This campaign especially seeks to leverage the influential power of youth\, empowering them as future leaders to steer the sector towards sustainability. To further this goal\, a one-day conference is being organized by North India Section of the Textile Institute (NISTI) in collaboration with IIT on 14 December 2024 at IIT Delhi. \nThis Conference aims creating a dynamic forum for discussing this pressing issue at various levels— within the industry\, through the lens of entrepreneurship\, and across the entire supply chain. This event will gather students\, policy makers\, industry experts\, and academicians to not only discuss jobs\, market trends\, and opportunities but also to foster a space for innovation and collaborative problem-solving. \nCall of Papers \nPapers on emerging trends in fibers\, fabrics\, processes\, fashion and post -consumer waste management with\nspecial reference to sustainability in textiles and clothing in word format with double space\, may be mailed to\nabhitextile@gmail.com with a copy to jtsecy@nistiregd.in by 15 September\, 2024. \nTitle and excerpts with a brief profile of author may be sent by 30 August 2024 at the same address. Subject of the email-\n“Paper/Excerpts for 14 December\, NISTI-IITD Conference”. The poster competition is open to Students\, Research\nInstitutes\, Fashion and Design Institutes. The theme of the poster should match the conference title. The poster title with a brief concept note may be sent by 20 September 2024 to the emails listed above\, with subject listed as – “Poster Competition for “14th December NISTIIITD conference”.
