Description:

Sigmatex is looking to recruit a Process Development Technologist within the Research and Development team. This role is responsible for supporting the R&D team and Textile Engineers in the development of new products from concept to production – identifying the optimum conversion process, running trials and establishing repeatability to deliver a high quality composite textile solution to Sigmatex’s customers.

Key responsibilities:

  • Set up and run development trials
  • Support textile engineer in identifying best setup and running conditions for new products as well highlighting and mitigating potential risks
  • Support commissioning and training of new equipment
  • Responsible to meet deadlines agreed with textile engineer
  • Support the development of new carbon fibre conversion processes
  • Identify, report and implement improvement opportunities
  • Support Sigmatex’s continuous improvement activities
  • Write SOPs for new processes
  • Train staff on processes and ensure training records are up to date for development staff. To work with production to improve existing processes and technologies to maximise manufacturing output or improve quality level.
  • Strict adherence to Sigmatex Quality Management and New Product Introduction process
  • Responsible to maintain a tidy and safe working environment

Person specification:

  • Previous experience in a Development role within manufacturing is essential (within Textiles – desirable)
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • Proven process improvement and problem-solving capability
  • Previous experience working in a Quality Controlled Environment
  • Effective time management skills

Hours of work: 40 hours per week
