Job Description

To work as part of the development team and to develop innovative textile solutions for our customers. The successful candidate will manage small to medium size development projects. The work will involve understanding customer requirements, designing technical textiles, planning and supervising the development trials and reporting trial outcome internally and to customers.

Main responsibilities

a) To work as part of the Development Team on the development of new products and product variants as requested by customers or internally identified as offering commercial benefit to the Company.

b) To liaise with customers and suppliers as required to ensure the Company maintains its position as a market leader and innovator in the field of advanced composites.

c) Support customer and supplier visits as necessary

d) Keep Development plans up to date.

e) Liaise with fibre/yarn Purchasing department to ensure appropriate fibre/yarn is available in time for proposed manufacturing date.

f) Keep records of time (labour) spent on various project/customer developments.

g) Work with the Development team on control of new product introduction ensuring all development items follow the correct process in line with the Quality Manual.

h) To work with Production to improve existing processes and technologies to maximise manufacturing output whilst maintaining maximum quality level.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following attributes:

  • At least 5-year experience in the textile or composites industry
  • Knowledge of carbon fibre processing
  • Knowledge of dobby and jacquard weaving
  • Experience with CAD for woven design
  • Knowledge of textile and composites testing
  • Hands on
  • Positive attitude and energy to obtain results
  • Ability to work self-sufficiently and as part of a team
  • Problem-solving ability
  • Ability to maintain a tidy and safe working environment
