Many people have accomplished professional achievements and contributions which are not recognised through academic qualifications alone. The attainment of a professional qualification is the clearest way of demonstrating possession of a sound knowledge of the industry and a high standard of professional competence.
TI professional qualifications are acknowledged by many national governments, as well as by employers establishing that the holder has proved their ability to practice.

“Medical textiles is one of the fastest growing sectors of the textile industry. I have combined a surgical career alongside a passion for textiles. Currently finishing my higher surgical training across the homes of lace and hosiery, Nottingham and Leicester, I use a range of textiles every day to improve human health. The Licentiateship formally recognises my work in this specialist field and allows me to collaborate internationally with experts to further develop our understanding of the way in which textiles interact with the human body.”

“Martin-Baker Aircraft Company Ltd. creates safety products for the aviation industry and is best known for its dominance of the ejection seat market. Martin-Baker benefits from the TI professional qualifications programme. We use the TI qualifications to motivate and encourage our personnel to professionally develop and as an outward sign of their skills and knowledge to our customers.”
“It truly is an honour to be recognised by the Textile Institute as a Fellow. The process of applying aided me in personally recognising my contribution over the past twenty years to the art and science of working with textiles and my role in the promotion and creative use of textiles in aerospace engineering. Having CText FTI after my name for my official functions reminds me of my duty and responsibility to uphold the professional code of conduct in all that I do. That CText FTI also serves as an outward indicator to my peers and clients of my expertise and is a daily reminder to personally strive for bigger and better in my textile work.”

Benevolent Committee: Support offered by The Textile Institute Benevolent Committee in 2020/2021
The Textile Institute Benevolent Society was established nearly 60 years ago to help eligible Textile Institute members or their dependants who find themselves in need.
In recent years, this has included assisting TI members of at least three years’ standing who have become unemployed, by paying a contribution towards TI membership fees. It has been a difficult 2020 for many and the Institute would like to hear from members who may have been made redundant from their job, are working reduced hours or finding themselves in trying circumstances and unable to pay the membership subscription fee.
The Institute would also welcome requests from members who wish to apply for a TI Professional Qualification (LTI, CText ATI or CText FTI) but due to the financial hardship find themselves unable to pay the application fee.
The Benevolent Committee is committed to assisting members who are in financially difficult circumstances with the costs associated with maintaining their Institute membership and professional qualifications.
Members who wish to seek assistance or would like to make a general enquiry are to contact the Secretary to the Benevolent Committee, Stephanie Dick, Chief Executive Officer via email on email@example.com
