Deadline: 23/06/2022

We are looking to expand our team of sector specialists to support delivery of Textiles 2030, our voluntary commitment for the fashion and textiles sector, to overcome the barriers to sustainability and drive change along the whole value chain, from production to disposal and recycling.

In this role, you’ll use your knowledge of the textiles sector and insights about the supply chain to reduce environmental impacts and support the transition to a circular model.  This will include convening and leading sector working groups, and developing strong relevant contacts with industry, government, professional institutions, and trade associations. You’ll work closely with the textiles team to help stakeholders to drive reductions in GHG (Greenhouse Gas) emissions and water footprint and contribute to the development and delivery of new initiatives that support WRAP’s programme of work, catalysing action across the sector.

When applying for the role, you’ll be asked to describe how you meet the following job essentials:

  • Demonstrable experience and understanding of the challenges faced by the textiles sector, developed through a combination of education (i.e. degree) and relevant industry/sector work experience, or sector knowledge developed through working at industry and/or consultancy level.
  • Knowledge of key environmental issues associated with the textile sector, (for example, design for durability and recyclability, reuse business models, materials reprocessing, sustainable and recycled fibres, and policy/regulation0.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively, concisely, and compellingly with a range of audiences, both in writing and in person
  • Ability to work individually, as well as functioning within a dynamic and ambitious programme team, including working alongside technical experts in each field.

You might be pleased to know that we’ve moved to hybrid working here at WRAP. Although this role is contractually based at one of our offices (Banbury, Cardiff or Belfast), in reality you will be able to work from home, with the caveat of coming into the office to collaborate with your teams as and when you need to. You, your manager, and your teams will have the freedom to decide when this will need to happen, but when it is agreed it will be important that you do attend the office. If you are invited for an interview, this can be discussed in more detail.
