Intern – Textiles - The Textile Institute

Would you like to get some experience of working in a demanding sustainability team environment?  In April 2021, WRAP launched Textiles 2030, an expert-led initiative, harnessing the knowledge and expertise of UK leaders in sustainability to accelerate the whole fashion and textiles industry’s move towards circularity and system change in the UK. It is an ambitious agreement that aims to transform the sector from its current take, make and dispose model to a more circular and sustainable business model to ensure that the sector halves its carbon footprint and reduces its water footprint by 2030. This is an exciting time to be joining the team as we work to mobilise business, government, and academic signatories to act on climate and circularity.

Have you completed a degree linked to sustainability or textiles?  Are you part-way through a qualification? Or perhaps you previously started an Apprenticeship which had to end due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  If so, we’d like to hear from you!

You are someone who will enjoy working closely with and collaborating with others.  Working as part of our small Textiles team you’ll be comfortable and confident with autonomy and remote working.  Experience of working in the retail sector will be welcome.

We are looking for someone with the ability to:

  • Communicate confidently with stakeholders.
  • Assist with our research (surveys, questionnaires etc.) to support signatory action.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team to reach goals on time.
  • Think differently and look for ways to support our signatory relationships.

Please use the job essentials section of our online application to tell us about your experience in the areas above, providing examples where appropriate:

We are advertising a full-time, 9 month Internship.  We will consider the case for flexible working if we find the right candidate.

You might be pleased to know that we’ve moved to hybrid working here at WRAP. Although this role is contractually based at one of our offices (Banbury, Cardiff or Belfast), in reality you will be able to work from home, with the caveat of coming into the office to collaborate with your teams as and when you need to. You, your manager, and your teams will have the freedom to decide when this will need to happen, but when it is agreed it will be important that you do attend the office. If you are invited for an interview, this can be discussed in more detail.

Closing date for this role is Thursday 23rd June at 23:59. Interviews will be taking place week commencing 27th June & 4th July.
