An exciting new opportunity for an experienced Product Development Technologist who has a keen interest in specialist and performance led clothing. You will be involved in all technical aspects of the development process. To proactively develop the sample/specification from initial design to final production in line with market requirements, customers and tenders across all market sectors.

Product Development Technician – The Job Outline

  • Produce clear and accurate specifications and create illustrations based on customer requirements/tender
  • Request samples and organise fabrics and trims. Prompt and effective analysis of samples.
  • Oversee and work with sample team to produce development/prototypes from construction details to wearer trials. Travel to factories offshore.
  • Provide support and assist with pattern work, size charts and ratings.
  • To identify industry bodies to work with for products, specifications, design and fabrics.
  • Assist with testing and product certification.
  • Produce costings for BOM’s
  • Submit development specifications to factories/supplybase.  Provide technical support ie. garment construction/pattern to manufacturers, and investigate in line with needs of the business and to rectify any issues.
  • Measure and fit for wearer trails and bespoke sizes.
  • Create CE labelling and User information sheets for certified products.

Product Development Technician – The Person Specification

  • Previous experience within a similar product development, or garment technical role (min 3-4years experience).
  • A good working knowledge of pattern manipulation, fit management and garment construction.
  • Confident communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Well organised, accurate and attentive to detail.
  • Computer literate: Word, Excel. Beneficial knowledge of PLM or WEBPDM and CAD/Corel Draw.
  • Ability to maintain good working relationships with customers and suppliers.
  • Availability to travel offshore, as needed.
  • Able to work on own initiative and part of a multi-site team.
