An exciting opportunity has become available to work full time on a 2-year Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) to develop and embed innovative and sustainable design and manufacturing

approaches to integrate existing electronic systems into a range of ‘next generation’ smart garments, supported by a new manufacturing system capable of significantly increasing sales in professional sports and healthcare markets.

Kymira is a technology company developing smart garments for the professional sports and healthcare sectors. In 2013, they launched their first technology, an infrared emitting textile, used to enhance athlete performance and recovery.

Qualification we require:

A 1st or 2:1 in Textile or Garment Engineering/Design or related subject, with relevant industrial experience.

Application requirements:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of operations management, process mapping and productivity improvement practices.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the technical processes and parameters of design development and bulk manufacturing (including technical specifications, fit, sizing and grading, construction techniques, performance testing, quality control and packaging/labelling).
  • Detailed knowledge of the key components of garment technical development and construction techniques.
  • Experience in digital garment development software.
  • An overview of textile technology and embedded sensors for sportswear applications.
  • Experience of working in an industrial environment.

 Personal attributes:

  • Technical design creativity.
  • Excellent IT skills.
  • Aptitude to work autonomously as well as engagement within a team.
  • Able to confidently communicate complex concepts clearly to a wide-ranging audience.
