A materials innovation company specialising in the design, development, and manufacture of carbon fibre textiles for the Composites industry. As a global leader in their field, they strive to produce products that help customers push the boundaries of what’s possible.

As part of the R&D Team, this role will focus on the ownership and delivery of NPI projects, working with both internal functions and external partners.

Textile Development Engineer – The Rewards

  • Salary to £30,000 to £45,000 DOE

Textile Development Engineer – Requirements

  • MSc or PhD in Textiles, Composites or Materials Science (Would consider candidates with extensive relevant experience with carbon fibre conversion without an MSc or PhD)
  • Experience in textile design or carbon fibre conversion technology
  • Experience in composite manufacturing and testing
  • Project management skills with the ability to manage projects from initial feasibility stage through design, development and into production

Textile Development Engineer – Responsibilities

  • Manage small to medium textile development projects from initial design to successful hand over to production following NPI processes
  • Responsible to deliver projects on time, in full and within budget
  • Ensure Fabric meets quality, production rate and cost targets
  • Organise and supervise development and production trials
  • Liaise with Purchasing department to ensure appropriate fibre is available in time for proposed manufacturing date
  • Liaise with planning and production team to book and run production trials
  • Support funded projects activities
  • Keep records of time spent on various project/customer developments
  • Update customer service / commercial team / customer on progress
  • Write and present technical reports to customers or commercial team
  • Support continuous improvement activities when required
  • Work with production to improve existing processes and technologies to maximise manufacturing output or improve quality level
  • Support trials at customers when required and report internally
  • Write SOPs and risk assessments for new processes
