The Textile Institute Annual General Meeting

At The Textile Institute Annual General Meeting (AGM), members from around the world are invited to join in with the day’s official proceedings. The event is held either in person, or via a webinar.

Awards Lunch

The Textile Institute regularly hosts an Awards Lunch to celebrate member and non-member achievements, recognition of outstanding contribution to the textile industries and/or the work of The Textile Institute itself, and to award TI Professional Qualifications.

Parliamentary Lunch

The TI holds a lunch in the Cholmondeley Room at The House of Lords, London, UK.

The lunch is generously hosted by The Lord Haskel CompTI CText ATI, a past world president of the Institute. The lunch is the highlight of the TI calendar, welcoming members and guests from all over the world.

Textile Institute members and invited guests can dine in one of the most iconic buildings in the world with reception drinks, a three-course menu on the terrace, and all with historical views of the Thames and its famous architecture.

The Textile Institute World Conference (TIWC)

The Textile Institute World Conference (TIWC) has a long tradition and enjoys the hospitality of organisations in exciting and relevant locations around the world. It is an important meeting point for the textile industry and members worldwide, drawing together delegates from industry and education.

The conference provides a platform for universal information exchange and networking, and the social events associated with the conference bring together the global community to enjoy the host country’s culture and hospitality. The event boasts presented papers and posters from industry, forums and workshops.

The Introduction to Textiles Short Course

The Textile Institute launched this short course in 2010 to celebrate the Centenary of the Institute. It is a three-day intensive training short course, offered twice a year in March and in October. Courses are held in person and via interactive webinar, enabling the course to be accessible for all.

It is organised for the benefit of all those who are engaged in the manufacture, research and development as well as the commercial aspects of textiles business. The course will cover the fibres, yarns and fabrics used in textile products for apparel, household and technical textiles applications as core modules. The third day offers two modules covering dyeing and finishing and fabric testing and analysis.

The courses are approved by The Textile Institute, a system of validation assessed by independent and impartial experts.

The course is formed of seven separate topics: Fibres, Yarns, Weaving, Warp & Weft Knitting, Non-woven Fabrics, Dyeing & Finishing and Fabric Testing & Analysis.

Bespoke Short Courses

The Textile Institute can also provide in-house bespoke workshops, courses and seminars.

Webinars

The Textile Institute regularly runs a series of webinars exploring all topics from the textile industry around the world providing up to date information to its members and industry alike. The webinars aim to provide industry relevant data as well as networking and learning opportunities for all.

Tea with The Textile Institute is a series of webinars which is sponsored by industry and available to all TI members to take part in, free of charge.

Sections and Special Interest Groups

The Textile Institute is represented by local and national offices around the world. Sections are run by its members who provide a programme of local activities, factory visits, workshops, seminars and social events.

Partner & Corporate Member Events

The Textile Institute partner events include conferences, webinars, workshops, training courses, exhibitions and activities around the world. Whether you are a university or a commercial organisation, the Institute can help with the promotion of an event by providing a brief listing of the event or formalising a partnership agreement or via a paid advert.

In addition, the TI supports and promotes Corporate Member events as part of the annual Corporate Membership package.

Exhibitions

The Textile Institute attends key exhibitions around the world, which is an opportunity to meet Corporate Members, Individual Members, Partners, colleagues and friends. The Textile Institute regularly attends ITMA, India ITME, and Techtextil.

Directory of Presenters

Members are invited to join the Directory of Presenters of textiles professionals from both industry and academia who are interested in presenting at The Textile Institute, Section / Special Interest Group and partner events around the world. The Institute is particularly interested to hear from industry members who are happy to engage with students at both HE and FE institutions.

Affiliate Partner Service

The Textile Institute is delighted to welcome organisations to enquire about the new Affiliate Partner service.

The Institute introduced this service to promote organisations who have courses Accredited and / or Approved by The Textile Institute. The courses can be delivered either face to face or digitally through the organisations dedicated learning space.

The Textile Institute also offers Approval and Approval with Credit to providers of in-house training, short courses, on-line delivery and programmes not otherwise eligible via the accreditation route.

The Textile Institute accredits a wide range of courses globally within all areas of textiles, clothing and footwear. Students who graduate from these courses can apply for their professional qualifications after a shorter period of work experience and in some cases directly on graduation.

The Affiliate Partner is responsible for registering delegates and issuing all required equipment, learning materials and support.

Affiliate Partner courses are promoted via TI media including the website, emailing and social media to the TI’s entire network.
