Student Bursary Awards for TIWC 2025

The Committee of Management of The Textile Institute Benevolent Society is offering financial support to assist a limited number of students to attend the 93rd Textile Institute World Conference 2025 (TIWC 2025), which is being held in Porto, Portugal between 7-10 October 2025. Each bursary will cover the student conference delegate fee and one year’s student membership of The Textile Institute (if the recipient is not already a member). Eligibility

The bursaries are open to full-time undergraduate or postgraduate students studying textile-related subjects (including clothing and footwear) in the UK. This may also apply to full-time PhD students and those on a part-time undergraduate or postgraduate course who are not working full-time and receive a salary below GB£14000 per annum (or equivalent). Preference will be given to students who are already members of The Textile Institute and/or who are presenting a paper at TIWC 2025.

How to enter   

Applicants should submit a supporting statement in English (maximum 500 words) explaining how they would benefit from attending TIWC 2025.

Entries marked World Conference Student Bursaries 2025 and including full contact details should be emailed for the attention of the Matthew Cole (Senior Administrator) by Friday 4 July 2025 at the following address tiihq@textileinst.org.uk

Condition of the award

As a condition of accepting their awards, successful applicants are required to submit a short report after the Conference outlining the benefits, they have gained from attending which will be published in the membership magazine and online.

Assessment

All entries will be assessed by a panel appointed by the Committee of Management and applicants will be notified of the outcome as soon as possible after the closing date.
